The Golden Piano Restaurant & Bar | The Phoenix Hotel & Casino | The Las Vegas Desert
The following evening, a female jazz singer named Aubergine joined Ragtime, Harp and Oboe at the Golden Piano for a night of ragtime, remembrance and razzmatazz. Quite a few Archers danced the night away. It wasn't until hotel staff arrived to clean up in the morning that anyone noticed the Golden Girl seated at the Golden Piano - her tiny fingers lightly striking the almost noiseless keyboard.
The hotel manager tried to yank the Golden Girl off the piano's bench, unsuccessfully.
"What are you doing at this piano?" The manager stuck her face in front of the girl, but she ignored her.

"This isn't your job either! Robin told me last night after you pulled that Arrow stunt for the Heretical King! Everyone knows you're just after the Golden Piano."
"This is mine by right!" The Golden Girl started to cry Golden Tears and one small, tiny Golden Tear dripped right onto the Golden Piano's shiny, Golden keyboard. The manager wiped off the tear with a small Golden cloth used for polishing the Golden Piano.
"We'll just see about that." The manager grumbled off and made a phone call.
"Yea, that's right! She said it's hers by right. I don't know what right, but she said it's hers." The Manager hung up and went back to her crew. The Golden Girl was still sniffing at the piano a few hours later when Ragtime arrived for her shift.
"Hiya Goldie!" Ragtime was in a cheerful mood. Their shift had gone well last night and she hoped their success would continue.
"You know that's not my name." The Golden Girl was still upset. Ragtime held out her hand for a handshake,
"Perhaps we were never introduced. I'm Ragtime." The Golden Girl had turned away from Ragtime's outstretched hand and was picking up her Golden Bag off the lounge floor.
"You know that's not my name!" The Golden Girl ran off toward the restaurant's exit, leaving Ragtime alone to rehearse for her shift. The Hotel Manager returned to find Ragtime in rehearsal with her new singer and now quartet.

"Hey Ragtime! I got news you could use!" The quartet stopped mid song and listened intently to the Manager.
"We just received word about the Golden Piano. Apparently, it's over 100 million years old. Reputed to have been built by a legendary pianist and piano crafter, it carries with it magic, music and song of generations past. He wishes us much merry-making and good fortune."
"Oh my! That is an old piano isn't it?" Aubergine was genuinely astounded, as were the other women.
"I wonder if it came with any music?" Oboe opened the lid of the piano bench, but the only music in it was a worn, old copy of Scott Joplin's "Maple Leaf Rag." Ragtime wondered if the Golden Girl had found anything else in the piano bench besides Scott Joplin's worn, old copy of the "Maple Leaf Rag." Ragtime looked closer at the sheet music and saw the word "Suvarna" written in light pencil across the top of the page.
Is that her name? Ragtime wondered silently. She would have to find out.
